Uniplace Community DinnerSince 2012, UniPlace has operated a community dinner program that feeds over 100 people each week. This meal program, which is operated by students from the University of Illinois, seeks to address not only the issues of hunger insecurity in Champaign, Illinois. But the meal program is completely run by university students who prepare and serve the meals.

Project 4 LessProject 4 Less is a new volunteer event this Spring 2020 semester. We are collaborating with the RSO which is a student-led Food Recovery Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The organization strives to support local food retailers in redistributing unconsumed meals to those facing food insecurity.

Refugee CenterThe Refugee Center has been a favorite among volunteers. Here, volunteers work with children who are either new to the United States or whose parents are recent immigrants. Volunteers assist the with homework, reading, crafts, and more. There will often be planned events and outings, including trips to the park or the farmer’s market.
